Cisco reportedly has acquired Meraki, a cloud-based network infrastructure manager who has now served more than 10,000 customers.
To take over the company completely, Cisco, as reported by TechCrunch needs to raise cash of 1.2 billion USD.
As stated by the Senior Vice President of Cisco's Enterprise Networking Group, Rob Soderbery, with acquired Meraki, is expected to help Cisco to manage cloud-based network available to our global customer base of businesses and enterprises to easily and safely.
In addition, a software-based system offered Meraki for its products, Cisco is also expected to facilitate its business customers to run their networks, particularly in the era of 'mobile cloud'.
Meraki itself originally a research project of MIT, which developed into a startup that has 330 employees. Currently the company tealha supports over 10,000 clients.
Meraki's acquisition by Cisco is now awaiting a review of the regulator. Cisco expects to close the purchase of Meraki in the second quarter of 2013
